Gertrude Ederle

She was borned in New York on the 23rd of October 1905 and she died on the 30th of November 2003 when she was 98 years old.
She wasthe first woman who swan a croll the British Channel.She swan using the crawl style.
She swam the distance which separates France from England on the 6th of August 1926 in fourteen hours and thirty one minutes.
She competed for England in the Olimpic Games which where held in Paris in 1924 and she won a gold medal.
She had to retire because sge fell down and she hurt herself in 1933
After that she taught children to swim in a school for deaf children en New York.
